This piece will be my personal conclusion to ME3 and the Shepard/Kaidan storyline that meant so much to me while playing the game. I was very happy with the extended cut but we were still left wondering what became of Commander Shepard in the destroy ending, but it was definitely implied that Kaidan knew Shepard was still alive out there and that he along with the rest of the crew would find their way back to him.
This painting will be my version of that reunion played out, set in a battered but still functional Huerta memorial hospital room with Garrus making sure no pesky reporters spoil Kaidan and Shepard's special moment. Trying to convey their sense of happiness at seeing each other still alive but also sadness since in this moment it can't be easy for Kaidan to see him in this state and Shepard is still dealing with guilt issues related to sacrificing the GETH and EDI in order to destroy the reapers, I like the idea of Kaidan being the one to help him heal both emotionally and physically.

I might write a short fic to go along with this when I finish painting it but I suck at writing so we'll see.

If losing the geth and EDI means Shep and Kaidan can be together, I'll pick Kaidan every time!

If you doubt your writing skills then the fic might be better off in other hands. You might want to let someone write it for you.
